Google Antigravity 2.0: the agent platform for building apps

by Edgar Carvalho 2 min read

At Google I/O 2026, Google introduced Antigravity 2.0, the new version of its development platform focused on AI agents. The pitch is bold: take an idea and turn it into a production-ready app, with agents doing much of the heavy lifting.

Quick answer: what is Antigravity 2.0?

It is an “agent-first” platform for developers. Version 2.0 brings a desktop app, a command-line tool (CLI), an SDK, a managed agents API and an enterprise deployment path.

The five components

Antigravity 2.0 ships with five pieces that talk to each other:

  • Desktop app: orchestrates multiple agents and runs tasks simultaneously, with custom subagents and scheduled tasks running in the background.
  • CLI: for those who prefer creating agents from the terminal.
  • SDK: to build custom agents on top of Google coding tool.
  • Managed Agents API: managed execution in the cloud.
  • Enterprise deployment: a ready path for companies.

Powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash

Much of the platform is powered by the new Gemini 3.5 Flash — a fast, cheap model that, according to Google, was co-developed using Antigravity itself. It is AI helping build the AI tools.

Heads up: mandatory migration

An important note for Gemini CLI users: you will need to migrate to the Antigravity CLI by June 18, 2026. After that date, Gemini CLI stops working. If you rely on this tool, plan the switch ahead of time.

How much it costs

Google reorganized the plans. There is a new AI Ultra tier at $100/month, with five times the Pro plan limits. And the top-tier AI Ultra subscription dropped from $250 to $200/month, delivering 20 times the Pro limits. In short: more options and, in some cases, cheaper.

Why this matters

Antigravity 2.0 shows Google bet on agentic coding — the same wave driving billion-dollar startups. For developers, it is another powerful tool in the fight with OpenAI and Anthropic. For the market, it signals that “making software” is changing fast.

Frequently asked questions

Is Antigravity 2.0 free?

There are paid tiers (AI Pro and AI Ultra). Features and limits vary by the chosen plan.

Do I need to migrate from Gemini CLI?

Yes, by June 18, 2026. After that, Gemini CLI stops working; use the Antigravity CLI.

Who is it for?

For developers and companies who want to build apps with AI agents, from the terminal to the desktop.

We will track how Antigravity evolves. Stay on the DigitalRadar for the next AI news.
