After GTA 6: GTA Online Lives On, PC Gains Weight and Max Payne Is Next
Everyone is looking at November 19. Take-Two is already looking past it. In statements and filings this week, the owner of Rockstar Games laid out the post-GTA 6 roadmap: the current GTA Online keeps running after launch, the new game ships as a single-player campaign only, PC has become an “increasingly relevant” front, and fiscal 2027 net bookings should land between $8.0 and $8.2 billion. And Rockstar’s next published game already has a name: the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, in full production at Remedy.
Quick answer: what is the plan?
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 as a single-player game; GTA Online (from GTA 5) stays online and will not be shut down; GTA 6’s online mode comes later, with no date — Rockstar referenced a confidential 32-player format in court documents, and industry sources point to 2027. A PC version of GTA 6 has not been announced, but Strauss Zelnick said PC “has been becoming more and more relevant” for the company. Meanwhile, Remedy’s Max Payne 1&2 Remake has been in full production since August 2024 and is the next Rockstar-published title.
GTA Online does not die in November
The question hanging over the community was whether Rockstar would shut down GTA Online — 13 years old and still one of the industry’s biggest revenue sources — to force migration. The official answer: no. The mode continues after November 19. It makes sense in the numbers: in fiscal 2026, Take-Two recorded $6.72 billion in net bookings, and 76% of Q3’s $1.76 billion came from recurrent consumer spending, mostly GTA Online and NBA 2K. Nobody unplugs a machine like that before the replacement is ready.
PC: from last priority to “increasingly relevant”
Historically, Rockstar ships on PC one to two years after consoles — GTA V took 18 months; Red Dead 2, 13. Zelnick did not announce GTA 6 for PC, but the remark that the platform is gaining relevance, combined with reports that the version could arrive sooner than usual, is the strongest signal yet that the wait will be shorter this time.

Max Payne: the remake Rockstar is holding back
Announced in 2022, the remake of the first two Max Payne games entered full production in August 2024 and has appeared as “full production” in every Remedy financial report since, including August 2026’s. Rockstar, as publisher, controls all communication — and, as with GTA 6, tends to reveal only months before launch. With Remedy having just shipped Control Resonant (85 average), the studio has the team free to finish the project; 2027 is the most common bet.
Why this matters to you
If you play GTA Online, carry on: nothing gets switched off in November. If you are a PC gamer, Zelnick’s message is the best news in years — but it is still not a date, so do not sell the console. And if you are a Max Payne fan, the remake is real and active; the silence is Rockstar’s marketing strategy, not a sign of trouble. For the market, the number that matters is $8 billion: it is Take-Two saying GTA 6 alone should add more than $1 billion to the fiscal year.
